Abstract

1422144 Suspended furnace roofs WFJ CONSTRUCTION CO (NORTH WALES) Ltd 13 Aug 1973 [13 May 1972] 22571/72 Heading F4B A suspended furnace roof structure comprises sets of blocks in each of which a refractory hanger 3 supports further blocks 6 and 9, the arrangement being such that adjacent further blocks 6 and 9 have interengaging tongue and groove surfaces engagement of which is facilitated by the shoulders with downwardly sloping upper surfaces on the hangers 3 engaging corresponding recesses in the blocks 6 and 9 as shown. The hangers 3 are suspended from girders 18 by C-shaped yokes the ends of which engage recesses in opposite faces of said hangers as shown. The shoulders in the hangers 3 may be foreshortened to eliminate the bottom corner recesses (Figs. 4-7) these being then supplied by additional shallow tiles (Fig. 7). In a modification (Fig. 12) the C-shaped yokes have straight backs engaging horizontal slots in the heads of the hangers the ends being bifurcated (17) and engaging the flange of a suspension girder.
