Abstract
1421907 Superheating steam UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY 13 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 39315/73 Heading F4A In a steam generating plant having a stainless steel superheater 2 for effecting heat exchange between liquid metal and steam an injector 3 is provided for recirculating a fraction of the superheated steam leaving the superheater 2 through a branch line 4 to the inlet side of the superheater to provide latent heat for evaporating water droplets in the wet steam. A steam drum 1 receives water coolant from an evaporator (not shown) and is connected to the superheater 2 for heat exchange with liquid sodium supplied from a sodium-cooled nuclear reactor (not shown). Relatively wet steam flows from the steam drum 1 through a nozzle 8 of the injector and since the pressure at the nozzle exit is lower than the pressure in the superheater outlet 5 a fraction of the superheated steam leaving the superheater 2 is recirculated through the branch line 4 and a housing 7 of the injector 3.
