Abstract

1421899 Valves H WATTS and D E WATTS 16 March 1973 [25 March 1972 (3) 18 Dec 1972] 14137/72 14138/72 14139/72 and 15286/73 Addition to 1117783 Heading F2V A mixer fitting for hot and cold water supplies has a cylindrical chamber 2, Figs. 1 and 2, with laterally disposed inlets 3, 4, valve means 6 rotatable between two angularly spaced positions, sealing members 8, 9 carried by the valve means for shutting off the inlets and comprising a pair of tubular members each of which is a sliding and sealing fit in a transverse cavity in the valve means and has one end in sliding and sealing relationship with the cylindrical surface of the chamber and which when brought into register with the inlet is urged against the inlet by water pressure therein to seal the inlet, manual control means 21 at one end of the chamber, and an outlet port 15 which exits from the chamber either laterally or axially from the end of the chamber opposite the manual control means. Angular movement of the valve is limited by a stop pin 24 and the sealing members may be urged outwardly by springs. The valve may be modified by the provision of a second outlet, e.g. for a shower, controlled by a diverter valve or by providing an inclined outlet with an aerator or a rose.
