1421466 Dithiocarbamates DOW CHEMICAL CO 8 Feb 1973 [8 Feb 1972] 6277/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division B2] Novel compounds of Formula I where R represents H, hydrocarbyl such as alkyl or alkenyl, alkaryl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aralkenyl or acylalkyl, or heterohydrocarbyl such as alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, aryloxy, aralkoxy, alkylthio, alkylthioalkyl or arylthio; R 1 represents an alkylene group or heteroalkylene group having a heteroatom substituted in the carbon chain, preferably -O-, -S-, or where X is hydrocarbyl; and R 2 represents hydrocarbyl or heterohydrocarbyl such as alkyl or alkenyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl; R 1 and R 2 optionally containing up to two functional groups other than in the alpha position of R 2 such as halo, alkoxy, cyano, acetyl or C 1 -C 5 dialkylamino, are prepared by reacting an amino alkanol of formula with a trithiocarbonate ester of formula to prepare a hydroxydithiourethane of formula and then acylating the HO-R 1 - moiety with an acyl halide, anhydride, or ketene. The compounds of Formula I are used as flotation collectors in froth flotation processes where nickel and molybdenum sulphides are concentrated from sulphide ores in preference to iron sulphides. The compounds of Formula I are also useful as herbicides and fungicides.
