Abstract

1419872 Optical fibres AMERICAN OPTICAL CORP 30 Aug 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 40947/73 Heading C1M An optical fibre comprises a high refractive index core 36, a lower refractive index cladding 32, the cladding being spaced from the core by spacer members 40. The fibre is produced by inserting a high refractive index material rod into a tube of a lower refractive index material, inserting spacer rods between the rod and cylinder and heating and drawing the resultant assembly to produce the fibre.
