Abstract

1419720 One-way brakes TIMEX CORP 10 April 1974 [26 Dec 1973] 16031/74 Heading F2E [Also in Divisions G2-G3] In a watch having a regular hour hand 15 fixed on a spindle 14 carrying an hour wheel 13, and an auxiliary hour hand 17 fixed on a spindle 16 which is rotatably mounted on the spindle 14, a resilient disc 18 fixed to the spindle 16 ensures that the latter is normally driven by the wheel 13 through friction at the periphery 27 of the disc, and a fixed spring stop member 19 forms a ratchet coupling with the disc 18, (see also Fig. 3), to prevent anti-clockwise rotation of the auxiliary hand 17 and thus permit setting of conventional minute and hour hands 12, 15 separately therefrom. The hour wheel 13 and a wheel 30 fixed to minutes cannon pinion 11 are normally driven from seconds hand shaft 3 via a minute pinion and wheel 10, 7. A crown toothing 8 on the wheel 7 is engaged for setting when stem 9 is pulled out. The disc 18 has a set of raised tabs 24, Fig. 3, facing anticlockwise on its side adjacent the stop 19. The latter comprises a ring 21 with inner tabs 22 which are located in holes 28 in dial 20 and having outer radial arms 23 forming the ratchet coupling by resilient engagement with the tabs 24.
