Abstract

1419622 Bar code carrier and reader PLESSEY CO Ltd 9 March 1973 [9 March 1972] 11164/72 Heading G4M A test tube or other cylindrical or tubular object carries a label with bar code markings the bars being either parallel to or transverse to the tube axis. Transverse markings may be read using a hand held light pen having a guide or guide wheels (Figs. 2a, 2b, not shown) preventing the pen from slipping off the guide or the tubes may be withdrawn from a rack having optical fibre bundles coupled to a light source or photodetectors.
