Abstract
1419500 Microwave coupling circuits GENERAL ELECTRIC CO Ltd 11 Feb 1974 [21 Dec 1972] 59293/72 Heading H1W A microwave coupling circuit comprises a port 1 connected to ports 2, 3 by paths 4, 5 of equal electrical length, and a second transmission path 6, 7, 8 between the ports 2, 3, the second path having connected across it loads 9, 10 spaced from one another by an electrical distance of an odd number of halfwavelengths at the operating frequency, and spaced from the ports 2, 3 by paths 6, 8 of equal electrical length. The paths 4, 5, 6, 8 may have electrical lengths of a quarterwavelength. The circuit may be made of coaxial lines, striplines or waveguides having a characteristic impedance of #2Z 0 and the loads 9, 10 may have an impedance of 2Z 0 . An input at port 1 is divided in phase between ports 2 and 3, or co-phasal inputs at ports 2, 3 are combined at port 1, with good isolation between the input ports. The operative bandwidth may be broadened by adjusting the impedances of the lines and the loads. Lines 12, 13, 14 and load 15 may be added to the circuit, in which case there is a division of input energy applied to port 1 between ports 2, 3, 11. Further division may be obtained by addition of further circuits, e.g. as indicated by the dashed lines.
