1418930 Conveyers; hoppers BORDEN CHEMICAL CO (FRANCE) and TECHNAB 14 Feb 1973 [15 Feb 1972] 7197/73 Headings B8A and B8S [Also in Division B5] An endless conveyer comprises a plurality of plates 61 (Fig. 11) moved over rollers 87, 88 by co-operating gear-wheels 82, 83 and depending chain links 78, 79. While moving from left to right of an upper horizontal roller path 131 (Fig. 15), the plates 61 are interconnected by hooks 69 (Fig. 8) and pins 73 automatically engaged by spring arms 170, and by co-operating projections and apertures 66-68 (see also Fig. 10). At the right hand end of the path 131 (Fig. 18), the hooks are automatically disconnected by cams, and the plates 61 lowered on a roller table 143 by screw-threaded adjusters 141, 144, while material carried by the plates is held by a suction head 145. The plates 61 are then removed to the left by high speed rollers 154, and are raised to the start of the upper horizontal path 131 by adjusters 163, 166. Material to be moulded (see Divisions B4-B5) is fed on to the plates 61 by a hopper having diverging channels 41 (Fig. 5) and a smoothing roller in its outlet. Material is fed into the hopper by a pair of parallel spray bars 29, 33 (Fig. 3). Moulding is effected by rollers 218 (Fig. 18) that are lubricated by silica dust applied by a pneumatic conveyer. Compressed air is fed to the bottom 205 and side 211 of a tank 201 containing silica dust. The air is supplied at 10 second intervals to blow clouds of dust through a pipe 215 and on to the roller 218.
