Abstract
1418725 Building foundations; retaining wails MONSANTO Ltd 10 Jan 1974 [16 Jan 1973] 2232/73 Headings E1A and E1H A wall foundation, retaining wall, roof, patio or other building surface which supports a mass of soil, gravel or the like is covered with one or more interposed porous sheets of expanded resin having one or more semi-circular or other drainage channels in the face contaoting the building surface so that water from the soil &c drains through the porous sheet into the channel(s) from which it may be led to a sump. The sheet may be cut from foam polystyrene blocks moulded from resin beads, may be 5 to 10cm thick and may have 4 to 10 channels per metre across its width, each channel having a depth from # to ¢ of the sheet thickness. The porous sheet has a density from 16 to 32 kg/m<SP>3</SP>, may be of open or closed cell form, and may be a rigid foam of polyurethane, p.v.e. urea-formaldehyde or vinylaromatic polymer.
