Abstract
1417331 Supporting inserts for concrete moulding ECODYNE CORP 5 Feb 1973 [8 March 1972] 5675/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] Apertures 14 (Fig. 1) passing through a concrete structural member 10 are defined by inserts 42 (Fig. 3) supported during casting on a mould wall 22, a portion 46 of each insert 42 being broken off after moulding to leave an open-ended wall 40 lining the associated aperture. Ribbed plastics inserts 42 are screwed on to metal studs 30, the stud projections being adjustable by locking nuts 35. Prestressed reinforcing wires are positioned around the inserts, and the concrete cast to the top of the inserts. After hardening, the cast element is stripped from mould 22, the screw threaded portions 46 of the inserts being broken along lines of reduced thickness 47, to remain attached to the studs 30. In a second embodiment (see Fig. 7, not reproduced), the inserts are press fitted in apertures of the mould, with their projecting ends closed by caps. After moulding, the inserts are broken along the lines adjoining the mould surface, and the caps are broken off. Uses include wall panels and the top deck of a concrete cooling tower.
