Abstract
1417190 Bracing shed walls; lintels A R TURNER 20 Dec 1972 [21 Dec 1971] 58967/72 Headings E1K and E1W Timber shed walls are reinforced by angle-, T-, or barrel-sectioned metal members, which form nogs or dwangs or parts of lintels, with at least one flange of the member set into saw-cuts in the sheds, and holes in the members for fixing purposes. Diagonal or horizontal braces may be of angle-, (Fig. 3, not shown), split-stem T-, (Fig. 4, not shown), asymmetrical channel-section, (Fig. 5, not shown), or symmetrical channel-section, (Fig. 6, not shown), and the holes my be countersunk from the outside. A lintel may be formed using, e.g. an asymmetrical channel-section 8, with the lower flange set into slots 15, and the upper flange nailed on top of a wall plate 12, there being studs 13, 14 and a trimmer 12A. Alternatively, the metal member may be set lower down the timber construction to form a lintel, (Figs 10- 14, not shown).
