Abstract
1416814 Weft detectors SULZER BROS LTD 12 Jan 1973 [13 Jan 1972] 1686/73 Heading D1E A method of monitoring weft in a loom comprises transmitting a beam across the picking line, detecting interruptions in the beam as the weft forms loops across its path, summing during a first period the number of times the weft leaves the beam, and during a second period, the number of times the weft leaves the beam plus the duration of its absence from the beam, and then adding the two sums to form a signal which is compared with a reference signal to decide whether the weft is broken or mispicked. The detecting beam may be electromagnetic radiation, such as visible light or may be a sonic or pneumatic beam. Electronic or pneumatic circuitry may be used to process the signals from the beam, (Fig. 2, not shown).
