Abstract

1416602 Endless-track vehicles BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 9 April 1974 [10 April 1973] 17260/73 Heading B7H An endless-track unit for an aircraft, road vehicle or cross-country vehicle comprises an endless band 5 carrying inflatable ground contacting members 7, the interiors of alternate members 7 being connected through resilient transverse tubes 9 and respective flexible pipes 8 to form two separately inflated sets so that only alternate members deflate if one member is punctured. The members 7 are formed of fibrereinforced rubber and are mounted on respective trolleys 4 which are linked together to form the band 5. Each trolley 4 has a pair of laterally spaced rollers 6 engaging tracks 3 extending around the periphery of a track member 1 carried by a suspension device 2. The band 5 may be driven by a star-like drive-wheel 10. Grooved brake plates 11 on the trolleys 4 are engageable by brake plates 12 actuated by toggle links or hydraulic jacks.
