Abstract
1415596 Colour cathode-ray display tubes SONY CORP 31 Jan 1973 [3 Feb 1972] 4793/73 Heading H1D A colour c.r.t. includes temperature responsive magnetic means 1 for compensating for misregistration of electron beams on the phosphor screen due to thermally induced dimensional changes of a beam selecting element and to maintain colour purity, the magnetic means comprising a permanent magnet (2) (Figs. 1, 2 (not shown)) and a magnetic shunt element (3) having temperature responsive permeability, the shunt element engaging with the magnet to form a path for at least part of the flux originating in the magnet. Magnet (2) may be Ba-ferrite containing BaCo 3 and Fe 2 O 3 in the ratio 15 : 85 mol. per cent, and material (3) of Mn.Zn ferrite, e.g. Fe 2 O 3 , MnCo 3 and ZnO in the ratio 50 : 27: 23 mol. per cent. Components (2), (3) may alternatively be rectangular for example. Horizontal landing correction in a tube with vertical phosphor stripes and a slitted selecting electrode, six devices may be provided by six devices (Fig. 5, not shown), and in a shadow mask c.r.t. further devices as dotted may be provided. The magnets (2) preferably face outwards (Fig. 6, not shown). The magnetic permeability may decrease or increase with temperature, magnet mounting and deflection variations being discussed with reference to Figs. 7 to 10 (not shown). The magnets may also be mounted on the deflection coil holder or frame (10) of the mask (6) (Fig. 11 (not shown)).
