Abstract

1415264 Anaerobic purification of waste water STAMICARBON BV 21 Aug 1973 [23 Aug 1972] 39432/73 Heading C1C Waste water is purified under anaerobic conditions by supplying the waste water tangentially to a rotation-symmetrical basin containing microbiological sludge through one or more inlets located at a distance from the edge of the basin of from 0À5 to 1À0 times the sludge height in the basin, the supply giving a tangential flow velocity of 0À05-2À0 metres/sec., the purified water and sludge being discharged through an outlet located substantially at the centre of the basin. The process is to treat water containing nitrate and nitrite ions.
