[Also in Division H2] A building construction comprises a string of structural members assembled by conjoining partly overlapped members in nesting relationship to form an elongate support, and at least one strand-like member extending along the support. Each member has adjacent leg portions defined between inner and outer plane surfaces, the faces of one leg intersecting those of the other at first and second lines. Each member has in at least one leg two sets of holes on centre-lines spaced apart so that holes in a first member can be aligned with holes in a second member irrespective of whether the first member overlies or underlies the second. An iron angle-section member 10 has at least one leg 16 provided with setsof holes 24, 30 on respective parallel centre-lines 61, 63. A channel-section member 12 similarly has a leg 22 provided with sets of holes 38, 42 on centre-lines 67, 75. Pairs of members such as two members 10 or one each of 10 and 12 can be fastened together with either member of the pair overlying the other as, e.g. in Fig. I or 2, since the centre-line spacing in each member is half the lateral displacement which that member would undergo relative to the other member if their positions were interchanged. Modifications (Figs. 3-12, not shown) include: a member (10', 10", Figs. 3, 4) having pairs of sets of holes in both legs; a Z- section (90, Fig. 6); an L-section (210, Figs. 10, 11) having holes in both legs but at different pitches, or on centre-lines (261, 263, 278, 282) differently spaced from the intersection lines; and a member (310, Fig. 12) having two or more patterns of holes (X, Y) distributed along the same leg and providing additional holes for attaching the strand-like members to the support.
