Abstract

1413964 Coating apparatus VOLSTATIC COATINGS Ltd 27 March 1973 [24 Jan 1972] 3262/72 Heading B2L Coating apparatus comprises an electrostatic spray gun 1 and a separate charged electrode 5 which repels the cloud of charged particles and assists with deposition of coating material on the object 4. As shown in Fig. 1 the gun and the object are earthed and the electrode 5 is charged. In a modification (Fig. 2) an electrostatic vertically movable gun 23 is located in a recess in a spray chamber 20. 'Earthed articles to be coated are moved on a conveyor 24A. Charged electrodes 27 at the entrance and exit slots prevent egress of coating material from the booth and also assist to a limited extent with the all round coating of the articles on the conveyors.
