Abstract
1412755 Electrical connector BOWTHORPE HELLERMANN Ltd 20 March 1973 [21 March 1972 29 Nov 1972] 13261/72 and 55192/72 Heading H2E A connector, Fig. 1, for an intermediate part of a cable 10 and a conductor 14 has electrically conductive clamping elements 18, 20 having grooves 32, 36 for conductor 14, having a bolt 22, nut 24 and curved washer 26 clamping elements 18, 20 together, a recess 30 for conductor 10 and threaded aperture 38 with screw 40 with slotted end for biting into 10. Three slots radiate from the centre of the end face of 40 and are slanted so that their trailing edges form cutting edges biting through insulation 12. Element 20 has slot 28 allowing 20 to rock relative to bolt 22. The outer insulation of the cable (not shown) and the insulation 16 and outer conductor of inner conductor 14 are removed in the region of the connector before it is attached. Another embodiment, Fig. 3, comprises bridge 120, bearing contact screw 122 (as 40), clamp 118 with portion 124 defining a recess for conductor 10 and having ribs 126 and 128, which dig into insulation 12, and hooks 132 and 130, between which and groove 134 conductor 14 is clamped when nut 24 is tightened to tilt 120 about 132 and clamp conductor 10. Similar connectors with insulation between may be placed around conductors 142, 144 and the assembly protected by a housing.
