Abstract

1411399 Spring upholstery NHK SPRING CO Ltd 27 Dec 1972 [3 March 1972 #3] 59618/72 Heading A4M A seat comprises a frame 21 fitted with a spring structure 22 supporting a cushion 23, the spring structure including a plurality of substantially parallel, spaced apart single wire springs 25 each comprising a straight central portion 25c provided at each end with substantially coaxial coil spring portions 25b having integral hooks 25a engaging the frame 21, and includes means for preventing displacement of the springs 25 transversely of their length. As shown the structure 22 supports a foam cushion 23 in which are embedded a wire frame 27 and a sheet of cheesecloth 28, the springs 25 being held in spaced apart relation by being gripped between pairs of tapes 26 adhered together. In another embodiment Fig.8 (not shown) the springs 25 are located in grooves (40) in the underside of the cushion 23.
