Abstract

A mixture containing a polymer and an antistatic is described which contains: a) a polyester, a polyamide, a polyolefin or a polyacrylonitrile as the polymer, and b) from 0.1 to 20% by weight, based on the weight of the polymer, of an antistatic agent. The antistatic agent comprises b1) a polycarboxylic acid of the formula R(-COOH)n in which R is an n-valent hydrocarbon radical and n is the number 2 or 3, which contains from 16 to 54 carbon atoms, and b2) a polyalkylene glycol which contains on average from 5 to 50 alkyleneoxy units per molecule and whose alkylene groups are those of the formula -CHR'-CH2- in which R' is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, where component b1) has been esterified by means of component b2). The hydroxyl number of the antistatic agent is greater than its acid number. The molar ratio in which components b1) and b2) form the antistatic agent is in the range from 1.4 to 5 mol of b2) per mole of b1); when b1) comprises only dicarboxylic acid, this molar ratio is in addition not greater than 2.5 mol of b2) per mole of b1). These mixtures containing a polymer and an antistatic have excellent antistatic properties, and their dyeability is not impaired, and possibly even improved. The mixtures can be used for the production of textile fibres.
