Abstract

1410376 Fluidic elements INSTITUT PROBLEM UPRAVLENIA (AVTOMATIKI I TELEMEKHANIKI) and ZAVOD " TIZPRIBOR " 29 Nov 1972 55022/72 Heading G4P [Also in Division F1] A fluid logic device comprises a single plate, or a stack of plates, each plate having two fluid logic units formed in one face. The other face is formed with all the passages which are necessary to permit interconnection of the units to cause the device to perform a required one of a number of possible logic functions, according to which of the passages and units are connected by forming openings through the plate. The device includes a two-stage diaphragm amplifier. The plates which form the logic circuit are of three types (Figs. 4-6, not shown). Each plate carries two pure fluid logic units formed in one face and interconnected by channels formed in the other face via ducts passing through the plate. Some of the ducts may be sealed by webs which can be broken away according to the circuit to be set up. Each logic unit is of one of two types, one type performing the function (A + B).(C + D) and the other (A + B).(C + D). Adjacent plates are separated by gaskets. Fig. 9 shows a bi-stable circuit formed by a device comprising a plate carrying logic units of both types coupled to an amplifier of which the first stage is an inverter and the second stage is non-inverting. When fluid pressure is present at both inputs 29, 30 of one unit, or at input 23 of the other unit, pressure is applied to input 53 of the amplifier, causing a fluid output at 59 which is fed back via OR input 26 of the second logic unit, so that the amplifier is held in this stage when any or all of the inputs 23, 29, 30 cease. The amplifier is reset by application of pressure to either of the inhibiting OR inputs 22, 25.
