Abstract

1410324 Load engaging device SPEEDCRANES Ltd 6 Sept 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 42555/71 Heading B8H [Also in Division B7] Apparatus for raising and lowering navigational buoys from or to water or raising or lowering bodies within water comprises a grid 22 attached to the buoy or body and a grapple 13 for engagement with the members forming the grid. The grapple comprises a locating member 20 with a frusto-pyramid, pyramid, frusto-conical or conical head 20a for insertion between the members forming the grid and a pair of hooks 16 pivotally mounted on the locating member 20 for outward movement on initial engagement with the grid members as the grapple is lowered therethrough and for subsequently engagement beneath the grid member for the buoy to be lifted. Upon lowering of the buoy a slider 15 moves along the shank of the locating member to engage the hooks and move same into an inoperative position for the grapple to be raised clear of the buoy.
