Abstract
1410196 Calcining alumina ALMASFUZITOI TIMFOLDGYAR 19 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 58559/72 Heading C1A [Also in Division F4] Feed material (e.g. Alumina) from hopper 1 to be calcined in rotary kiln 14 is mixed in mixer 3 with some completely dried material and some partially dried material from the preheating process. The mixture is fed at a controlled rate by screw 11 into a gas flue 10 through which it is carried by flue gas from cyclone preheater 12 into cyclone preheaters 6a, 6b. A fraction of the partially dried output from cyclone 6a is fed by an adjustable rate cell feeder 7 into a bucket elevator 8. Dried dust extracted by an electrostatic separator 4 from the flue gases from cyclones 6a, 6b is also fed to the elevator 8 which transports the material via screw feed 9 into the mixer 3. The rest of the output from the cyclones 6a, 6b is carried to the cyclone 12 by the flue gases from cyclone preheaters 13a, 13b and the dried material from cyclone 12 is carried by the flue gases from the kiln 14 to the cyclones 13a, 13b from which the material enters the kiln 14. Flue gas is extracted by fan 15 through the separator 4 which is connected to the cyclones via the respective gas flues.
