Abstract

1409929 Boat launching trolley and trailer J VAN DAM 22 Oct 1973 [23 Oct 1972] 49140/73 Headings B7B and B7S In a combined boat launching trolley and trailer, the trolley wheels 5, 6 lie in a plane inclined to its frame longitudinals 8 and are adapted, during road transport, to be mounted in longitudinal channels 4 on the trailer frame 2, the arrangement being such that the boat 12 is held in a horizontal transport position. The trailer 1 has a single wheel axle and the channels 4 at each side of the frame are immovably fixed thereto. The trolley has two axles supporting the pairs of wheels 5, 6 and carries boat supports 9, 10, 11. The trailer and trolley are secured together by looking pins passed through an aperture in a plate 13 on the trailer into an aperture in the trolley frame; rearwardly foldable and lockable portions 14 of the channels also prevent accidental displacement during transport. For launching the trolley is rolled from the trailer, the forward support 11 removed and the trolley and boat moved into the water down a slipway or the like; extra support wheels (16a) (Figs. 2, 3, not shown) between wheels 5, 6 are provided on the trolley. When the boat float straps or the like securing it to supports 9, 10 are released. Hollow frame members 8, 8<SP>1</SP>, 8<SP>11</SP> give buoyancy to the trolley so that it floats after separation. Extra flotation members 16 may be secured to the trolley along with a cover so that the trolley may serve as a floating boat house several of which may be joined together to form a floating haven.
