Abstract

1409438 Piperidine derivatives JOHN WYETH & BRO Ltd 10 Dec 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 59141/72 Addition to 1345872 Heading C2C Novel compounds of Formula I in which A = C 1-6 alkylene, hydroxy-C 1-6 alkylene, mono- or di-keto C 1-6 alkylene, -OCH 2 CH(OH)CH 2 -or-O-(C 1-6 alkylene)-, and acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by reacting benzamido-piperidine or cyclohexanecarboxamido-piperidine with a compound of Formula III in which Y is a replaceable atom or group. 4 - Benzamido - 1 - [4 - (4 - tert - butyl - phenyl)- 4-oxobutyl]piperidine is prepared in the example. Pharmaceutical compositions having hypotensive activity for oral or parenteral administration, comprise one of the above novel compounds together with a pharmaceutical carrier.
