Abstract

1409325 Synthetic faujasite BAYER AG 4 Jan 197.3 [7 Jan 1972] 555/73 Heading C1A A process for the production of a synthetic zeolite having the crystal structure of faujasite and a composition of the general formula: in which n is 0 or an integer of from 1 to 8, comprises ripening a reaction mixture containing Na 2 O, Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 and H 2 O, the molar ratio of SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 in the reaction mixture being from 2À5 to 5, the molar ratio of Na 2 O/SiO 2 in the mixture being from 1 to 2, and the molar H 2 O : Na 2 O-ratio in the reaction mixture being from 20 to 40; increasing the H 2 O : Na 2 O ratio to a value of from 30 to 70 by adding water; and crystallizing the resulting mixture. The silica source is preferably commercial water glass but may also be solutions of amorphous silicas in sodium hydroxide solution. The alumina source is sodium aluminate, possibly together with sodium hydroxide.
