Abstract
1409023 Separating impurities from gas COMPAGNIE PARISIENE D'OUTILLAGE A AIR COMPRIME 2 Feb 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 5427/73 Heading BIT [Also in Division F4] A cleanser device for the controlled evacuation of impurities from a fluid pressure operated apparatus, e.g. a steam trap, comprises a cylinder 4, an evacuation chamber 8, a first duct 7, and a second duct 17 which connects the chamber 8 to an impurity outlet 19. A control pressure fluid inlet 5, and radial passages 6 for the fluid of the apparatus open into the cylinder 4. The device also includes a piston 12 having first, second and third portions 20, 22, 21 respectively, each provided with a toroidal sealing ring 11, 14, and 13. In operation of the device, with the piston 12 in the upper position (as shown), impurities from the apparatus pass through the radial passages 6 into the cylinder 4. A control fluid under pressure (which may be the fluid of the apparatus) is applied via the inlet 5 to the upper surface of the piston portion 20. The piston 12 is thus urged into its lower position causing the impurities to be discharged into chamber 8. The evacuation chamber 8 is sealed from the impurity outlet 19 by the sealing ring 14 on the lowermost piston portion 22 engaging in and thus closing the lower evacuation duct 17. Upon removal of the pressure applied by the control fluid, the piston 12 will rise, allowing the impurities to pass through the outlet 19.
