Abstract

1408292 Ionization chambers GEC MEDICAL EQUIPMENT Ltd 17 July 1973 [12 May 1972] 22291/72 Heading H1D A gas filled ionization chamber for monitoring X-ray doses comprises a planar metal polarizing electrode 6 and a parallel collector electrode 8 surrounded by a guard ring 9 both made of a material as transmissive to X-rays as the gas to reduce shadows. A double ionization chamber comprises an A1 casing 15, polyester films 2, Pb or Cu films 6, expanded polystyrene 4 and a sheet of plastics material 3 on which carbon film electrodes 8, 9 are deposited from a colloidal suspension. Corresponding electrodes are connected together. A plurality of chambers may be combined to monitor the dose in several zones.
