Abstract
1407314 Hydraulic turbines MARTIN & BOTTING DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 28 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972] 45546/73 Heading P1T An hydraulic turbine adapted to drive a pump 10 comprises a number of propeller turbine wheels 5 on a shaft 2 in a casing 1 with an inlet 6 restricted by a guard 7 so that only the lower parts of the propeller blades are in the water-flow through the casing. As shown, the shaft carries a crank 9 to drive the reciprocating pump 10, having its inlet 11 opening in a shallow well 12 in the casing. Again, Fig. 4 (not shown), the crank (15) is mounted at the middle of the shaft 2 with equal numbers of wheels 5 on opposite sides. A guard 14 protects the turbine inlet. Performance figures for practical embodiments are given.
