Abstract

1405098 Visors P D I LTD 16 Oct 1972 [16 Oct 1971] 48211/71 Heading A3V A visor for a crash helmet 10 comprises a transparent eye protector 12 e.g. of plastics material which is pivotally connected by pins 17 to a pair of separate side pieces 14, the side pieces each having two sockets 15 for engagement with studs at opposite sides of the helmet 10 to secure the side pieces 14 thereto and to mount the visor for pivotal movement on the helmet between a position wherein it covers a part of a wearer's face and a position in which it is clear of the face. The side pieces 14 are preferably thin-walled plastics mouldings of generally triangular shape with the sockets disposed at two of the apices and the pins 17 at the other apice. Projecting formations as 19 on the side pieces 14 are provided to limit upward and downward movement of the visor by engagement with the edges thereof. The visor may be a shaped sheet of transparent material as shown or may be in the form of a frame defining a window containing a sheet of transparent material. The visor may be dimensioned to cover the whole or only part of the face of a wearer.
