Abstract

1404812 Permanent magnet dynamoelectric machines FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 10 Oct 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 46606/72 Heading H2A In a permanent magnet dynamoelectric machine, e.g. a vehicle heater fan or wiper blade motor, the stator comprises two U-shaped yoke members 78, 80 and four flat block radially polarized ceramic magnets 70, 72, 74, 76, the magnets having poles of the same polarity facing the rotor 14 and having poles of the opposite polarity engaging flat end portions 84, 86, 92, 90 of the yoke members 78, 80; four flux linkage paths, indicated by chain lines, are thereby formed between the stator and rotor, and two consequent poles are created in central portions 82, 88 of the yoke members 78, 80. The magnets and yoke members are supported within an axially extending part 48 of a plastics or aluminium housing by means of two tabs 62, 64 and four axial pins 52, 54, 56, 58. The commutator (28, Fig 5, not shown) of the machine is energized via two mutually perpendicular brushes (36, 38) and a D.C. source (100).
