Abstract
1404038 Adjustable beds BORG-WARNER CORP 12 Sept 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 42231/72 Heading A4J [Also in Division H2] A hospital bed 10 has back and knee panels 11, 13 which are raised and lowered by respective A.C. motors under the control of a manuallyoperated unit 30. The coils (71, 72), Fig.2 (not shown) of the "knee" motor (70) are selectively energized by a power-switching circuit (60), which is electrically isolated from the unit 30 but linked optically to it by a further circuit (50) containing bulbs (41, 42). "Up" and "down" switches (32U, 32D), Fig.1A (not shown), on the unit 30 are so connected that if both are pressed simultaneously neither of the bulbs (41, 42) lights. A further set of switches (34U, 34D) operate a "back" motor(70'). A duplicate set of controls 30'may be provided at the foot of the bed, together with controls 30" which operate an additional motor 10M to raise and lower the bed frame 10F.
