Abstract

1400818 Reciprocating conveyers for feeding sheet metal to presses HUFFORD INDUSTRIES Inc 2 Oct 1972 [30 Sept 1971] 45288/72 Heading B8A Pushers 28 for feeding sheet metal workpieces (not shown) to a press (not shown), are mounted on a carriage 90 which is reciprocated to and fro by the action of pusher dogs 34, 36 (Fig. 2), mounted on an endless drive chain 32. The dog 34 engages a slot 120 in a yoke 38 rigid with the carriage 90. The dog 36 engages an open-ended slot 132 (Fig. 7) in a yoke 40 disposed on the other side of the drive chain from the yoke 38. Due to the shorter length of the yoke 40 (necessary to clear the drive shaft 116 of the chain 32), the dog 36 only, engages the slot 132 on the driving stroke of the carriage 90. In a modification (Fig. 6), a further open-ended yoke 160, similar to the yoke 40, guides the dog 36 on the return stroke. In order to mount the dogs 34 and 36 firmly on the chain 32, they are mounted on a pin 128 which is carried between spaced mounting plates 150, (152) (Fig. 4, not shown). The latter are secured to three successive links of the chain 32 by four pins 146. The workpieces are guided by laterally adjustable guide flanges 76 and 78, and are positioned longitudinally at the commencement of feed by adjustable stops 66. (For Figures see next page.)
