Abstract
1400644 Filling discharge lamps EGYESULT IZZOLAMPA ES VILLAMOSSAGI RESZVENTARSASAG 12 April 1973 [23 June 1972] 17710/73 Heading H1D The process of filling a gas discharge lamp takes place in an evacuable bell-jar 2 and consists of closing the lower end of the tube with a first closure member, introducing the filling which consists of a solid substance introduced into the tube fitting a second closure 17 in the other end of the tube, heating the lower end by means of heater 11 so that the solid substance evaporates and precipitates on another part of the tube, cooling the lower end of the tube and heating the upper end by means of heater 13 to seal the second closure 17 to the envelope and to re-evaporate the solid filling substance. A filling gas can be introduced through distributor 5 prior to sealing the second closure. The filling can include sodium, mercury and argon or xenon at 20-30 mm. Hg.
