Abstract
1397848 Deodorized organothiophosphorus compositions MOBIL OIL CORP 9 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 37745/73 Addition to 1360275 Heading A5E A composition comprises (1) from 0.0001, to 80% by weight of an organothiophosphorus compound having the structure: wherein R is hydrogen, alkyl, substituted alkyl, phenyl, alkyl-substituted phenyl, halo-substituted phenyl, phenyl-substituted phenyl or carbethoxyalkyl R' is alkyl, X is =O, or =S, n is 0 or 1 and Y and Z are different and are O or S, and (2) from 5 to 40% by weight based on the weight of compound (1) of linoleic acid, linolenic acid, a mixture thereof, or a glyceride of said acid or acids, (3) a liquid or solid carrier, and (4) as stabilizing agent for the organothiophosphorus compound, a sufficient amount of an alkylene or polyalkylene glycol such as propylene glycol to inhibit decomposition of the organothiophosphorus compound. The deodorizing component (2) may be a drying oil such as linseed oil or tung oil. The compositions are of reduced mammalian toxicity as compared with compositions without the glycol component.
