Abstract
1397115 I C engine fuel injectors AUTOMOBILES PEUGEOT 8 June 1972 [8 July 1971] 26674/72 Heading FIB [Also in Division F2] The chamber 10 of the injector 2 is selectively connected to a source of fuel under pressure, e.g. an injection pump, and an enclosure at a lower pressure, e.g. substantially atmospheric pressure, under the control of an electromagneticallyoperated valve 26. The valve 26 has opposed faces 29, 30 which co-operate with respective seats 31, 32 at the entrances of bores 18, 19 receiving valve guide portions. The bores 18 and 19 may be respectively connected to the fuel supply pressure and the lower pressure adjacent their valve seat ends through grooves 27 in the valve and a passage 34 leading to the connector 7. The valve chamber 20 is connected to the chamber 10 and the valve 26 is subjected to the fuel supply pressure at opposite ends. When the electromagnet 13 is energized by an electronic calculator the valve 26 is moved against the bias of the spring 36 to connect the valve chamber 20 to the fuel supply pressure in place of the lower pressure. A calibrated passage 39 is located in the fuel flow path to the chamber 10. The valve 26 is in two parts abutting at 228 and may be subject to the lower pressure in place of the fuel supply pressure.
