1397113 Measuring fluid-flow electrically SANDOZ Ltd 7 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 26483/72 Heading GIN A spirometer comprises a heated W.T.C. thermistor R2 operating typically at 200 ‹C, over which fluid-flow to be monitored may be directed, mounted in a sensing circuit in the form of a resistance bridge circuit 13 coupled with inputs of a difference amplifier 15 which amplifies a bridge imbalance signal across junctions J 1 , J 2 caused by cooling of the thermistor due to fluidflow and applies it via emitter follower 17 to junction J3 of the bridge to increase current through the thermistor and cause it to assume its operating temperature when the bridge will be substantially rebalanced, voltmeter 16 monitoring the potential across the bridge junctions J 3 , J 4 which potential is a function of fluid-flow.
