Abstract
1396632 Silver chromate SAFT-SOC DES ACCUMULATEURS FIXES ET DE TRACTION 18 Sept 1973 [26 Sept 1972] 43670/73 Heading C1A [Also in Division H1] Silver chromate is prepared by placing a soluble chromate and a silver salt in an aqueous medium containing a dichromate. It may be prepared by adding to a dichromate solution approximately equivalent quantities of a silver salt solution and a chromate solution or by adding a chromate solution to an aqueous suspension of silver dichromate which itself may be prepared by mixing a silver salt solution with a dichromate solution. The reaction may be carried out at the boil. The chromate and dichromate used may have the same cation which may be Li, Na, K, NH 4 or, preferably, Mg. The product may contain 64À9-65À1% Ag and 34À8- 35À0% CrO 4 . (MgCrO 4 may be prepared by dissolving MgO and CrO 3 in water). The product is an active material which may be used as a positive electrode in an electrochemical generator with a lithium negative electrode and a non-aqueous electrolyte.
