Abstract

1396583 Book holder; hand carrier for books A MEROLA 19 June 1972 [15 Feb 1972] 28551/72 Headings A4G and A4U A book holder comprises two L-shaped units 10, 10' each having a base consisting of base members 12, 12'and base-plates 16, 16'which are connected by spacers 18 forming retaining means for a rubber band 24 whereby books can be inserted between upstanding members 14, 14' of the units. The units are formed of polystyrene and the retaining means formed by rollers 22 surrounding a bolt. The upper ends of the members 14, 14' are formed as carrying handles. In a modification, the lateral edges of a supporting panel 26 are slidably engaged in central cut-outs on the undersides of plates 16, 16', the panel having an upstanding portion 30 which is apertured to form a handle. In further modifications the L-shaped units are formed as unitary mouldings with integral protuberances on parts intermediate the base members and base-plates forming retaining means for the rubber band, or the integral protuberances are formed only in the base-plates, a rubber band being provided parallel to each lateral side of the base-plates.
