Abstract
1396133 Reducing formation of nitrogen oxides FOSTER WHEELER CORP 30 May 1972 [28 May 1971] 25320/72 Heading F4B A combustion chamber 28, particularly in a steam generator, has a burner 30 supplied with liquid, gaseous or pulverulent fuel from a source 32, with air from a fan 36, and with the exhaust gases from a turbine 44 having a combustion chamber 54 fed with fuel from a source 56, water from a source 60 and combustion air from a compressor 48 driven by the turbine 44. The turbine exhaust gases containing steam and combustion products dilute the combustion gases formed in the furnace 28 thus reducing the furnace temperature and reducing the production of oxides of nitrogen.
