Abstract

1396000 Direct connections; two part couplings AMP Inc 8 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 55027/72 Heading H2E A sheet metal contact comprises two spaced opposed arms 15, 16 movable towards each other for crimp connection to a flat-conductor cable, one arm 15 having an apertured dome embossment 17 and the other arm 16 a lance 19 aligned with the aperture 18. On crimping the lance pierces the cable and enters the aperture, the embossment is then flattened causing the sides of the aperture to grip the lance. Two lances and embossments are shown the latter comprising a circular-apertured flat-topped dome. In another embodiment the apertures are elongate.
