Abstract
1395815 Bandaging material BUNZL & BIACH AG 5 May 1972 [6 May 1971 21161/ 72 Heading B2E A bandaging material comprises one or more layers of cellulosic or fleecy material coated on the side for placing next to a wound with a porous non-adhesive layer of acrylic resin containing a substance which controls the growth of germs or kills them, the layer(s) of cellulosic or fleecy material being backed with an absonbant or strengthening layer. The fleece may be polyamide, polyester, polyolefin or cellulosic and coated with silicone resin. The substrate cellulosic material may be impregnated with acrylic resin or silicone resin solution or emulsion before coating. Impregnation with acrylic resin may be followed by embossing. The acrylic (e.g. polyacrylisobutylester) coating is preferably applied by screen printing and germicides mentioned are ZnO, Al 2 O 3 , Al or Ag powders, sulphonamides and phenyl mercury borate. The backing layer may be cotton-wool, cotton fleece, attached by stitching or sticking, or by welding when it contains thermoplastics.
