Abstract

1395051 Chromium alloy moulds; casting ingot moulds SULZER BROS Ltd 12 May 1972 [12 May 1971 25 April 1972] 22515/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division C7] A mould, e.g. a diecasting mould or an ingot mould, suitable for casting metals at 800-1500‹ C., is made of an alloy comprising : together with a stoichiometric amount of one or more of Ti, Hf and Zr for forming nitrides: the balance being at least 64% Cr. An ingot mould, to be subsequently solution heat-treated and air- or oil-quenched, may be cast in a mould with chilling surfaces of metal and/or graphite and a ceramic core, or machined or forged from a east block.
