Abstract
1394074 Mixing flowing fluids; emulsifying G PILZ [trading as J S PETZHOLDT] 12 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 27378/72 Heading B1C A mixing or emulsifying apparatus for liquids and slurries comprises a plurality of chambers 1 connected in series by flow channels 2. Each chamber consists of a plurality of right frusto-cones with either the larger end 3 or smaller ends 4 in common and the channels are arranged so that liquid enters the respective individual chambers tangentially in the region of either their largest or smallest cross-section. The chamber and channels may be formed in a stack of plates 7 secured between end plates 6. The chambers may have all their largest and smallest diameters respectively coplanar as in Fig. 1, or be interfitted as in Fig. 4. They may be arranged linearly as in Fig. 2, or at the angles of a polygon (see Figs. 5 and 6, not shown), may be enclosed in a thermostatically controlled housing (9, see Fig. 7, not shown). Each successive channel 2 may be larger or smaller than the one preceding it.
