Abstract

1393969 Levels etc SIEMENS A G 8 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 21306/72 Heading G1F [Also in Division G2] A device for maintaining the output beam of a laser at a selected angle of inclination comprises a first mirror 3 rotatably mounted and having a setting mechanism 10 for adjusting its attitude of inclination with respect to the laser source 1 to provide the selected output inclination, and pendulously suspended below the first mirror a second mirror 5 arranged to compensate for any tilt in the laser source to maintain the selected output inclination. The pendulum comprises a spring 4 and counterweight whereby a tilt by the laser (and thus mirror 3) of an angle α results in mirror 5 rotating only through ¢ α.
