Abstract

1393824 Fastener driving tools D HAUBOLD [trading as DIETER HAUBOLD INDUSTRIELLE NAGELGERATE] 10 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 22339/73 Heading B4C The air intake valve 12 for the cylinder of a pneumatically operated stapling or nailing tool incorporates a ball valve 27 so as to be operable only when the work contacting member 32 and the trigger 26 are in their operative positions at the same time, the ball valve being connected to the air intake valve by a tube 11 which passes through the compressed air reservoir 3. A pair of identical spool valves 16, 17 are provided one on each side of the ball valve 27 and are normally pressed down to the limit of their stops 22, 23 by the compressed air in the reservoir 3 as shown in Fig. 1. In this position air can pass seal rings 18, 20 but not seal rings 19, 21 to atmosphere, the tube 11 thereby communicating the air pressure to the intake valve 12 to keep it closed. Actuation alone of the trigger 26, Fig. 2, moves the seal ring 18 into its closed position and the seal ring 19 into its venting position so that the air pressure within the bore 25 still acts on the intake valve 12 through the tube 11. Actuation alone of the work contacting member (32), Fig. 3 (not shown), results in the air pressure within the bore (24) to still act on the intake valve 12 through the tube (11). When both the work contacting member and the trigger are in the operative position, the seal rings 18, 20 seal off the supply of air through the tube 11 so that the pressure on the intake valve 12 is relieved and the pressure within the reservoir 3 lifts the intake valve 12 to act on the piston 5.
