Abstract
1392102 Phosphate ester salts CHEMISCHE FABRIK PFERSEE GmbH 30 March 1972 [31 March 1971 13 Nov 1971 17 March 1972] 15192/72 Headings C2P and C2C [Also in Division C5] A cationic cleaning intensifier (i.e. a dry cleaning detergent), is obtained by (a) condensing one mole of a fatty acid aminoalkyl alkanolamide of the formula RCONHC n H 2n NHC x H 2x OH in which R is a saturated or unsaturated C 9 -C 22 aliphatic hydrocarbyl radical which may be substituted, e.g. by OH, and n and x are integers from 2 to 4, with 0-4 to 0-9 mole of urea or acetyl urea such that 0À55 to 0-9 mole of ammonia is released and (b) at least partly neutralizing the condensation product with a compound of the formula HO.P:(O)(OR<SP>1</SP>) 2 and/or where R<SP>1</SP> is a C 2 -C 6 alkyl group. The product from (a) may be reacted prior to the neutralization step (b) with 0-2 to 0-6 mole of a compound of the formula H 2 N-CaH 2a -X in which X is NH 2 , OH, NH-C b H 2b -NH 2 or where a and b are like or unlike integers of 2 or 3 and such further condensation products may optionally be reacted with formaldehyde, e.g. as paraformaldehyde, prior to the neutralization step, the formaldehyde being used in an amount of 0-2 to 1-5 moles per mol of the originally used amount of the fatty acid aminoalkyl alkanolamide of the given formula. The amount of the phosphoric ester or ester mixture used in the neutralization step preferably be such as to give a pH value of between 4 and 7 preferably between 5 and 6. The products are useful for the dry cleaning of textiles. Condensation products are obtained by (1) reacting oleic acid with aminoethyl ethanolamine and then with urea and optionally further reacting with aminoethyl ethanolamine and optionally paraformaldehyde; (2) as in (1) but using diethylene triamine instead of aminoethyl ethanolamine in the further condensation step and omitting the paraformaldehyde reaction; (3) reacting ricinoleic acid aminoethyl ethanolamide with urea and then with ethylene diamine and optionally further reacting with formaldehyde; (4) reacting a mixture of stearic acid aminopropyl ethanolamide and ricinoleic acid aminoethyl ethanolamide with acetyl urea, then with aminopropyl propanolamine and then optionally further reacting with paraformaldehyde; and (5) reacting an aminoethyl ethanolamide of a coconut fatty acid with urea and then with monoethanolamine and optional further reaction with paraformaldehyde.
