Abstract

1391889 Package support AGFA-GEVAERT AG 17 Aug 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 38911/ 73 Heading DIJ An assembly for supporting a winding tube 1 comprises a pair of axially displaceable end members 2 between which the tube 1 can be positioned, substantially L-shaped chucks 16 carried by each end member 2 such that when the end members move towards each other (a) the substantially horizontal arm of each L-shaped chuck 16 enters the tube 1; and (b) the end thrust of the tube 1 against the substantially vertical arm of each L-shaped chuck 16 causes the chuck to rock about its corner to swing the arm that is in the tube into engagement with the inner periphery of the tube. The chucks 16 on an end member 2 are arranged on a regular polygon. An encircling spring 23 cause the chucks to move away from the inner surface of the tube 1 when the end members 2 are moved apart. The members 2 carry centering discs 17. The members 2 may be on a common drive shaft.
