Abstract
1391362 Support for optical apparatus TELE-PICTURES ESTABLISHMENT 12 April 1972 [14 April 1971] 16755/72 Heading G2J An anti-vibration support for viewing gear, e.g. a motion picture camera, on board a vehicle, e.g. a helicopter, comprises an anchoring means (1) above the operator's head, an arm 3 bearing the viewing gear at 32 and balanced by counterweights 33, said arm being mounted for pivoting about an axis X-X<SP>1</SP>, parallel to the optical axis of the viewing gear and borne by a normally horizontal bow 6, said support comprising, between the anchoring means and the bow, means supporting a vertical pivot 9 and enabling angular variations of pivot 9 around the perpendicular horizontal axes V-V<SP>1</SP>, W-W<SP>1</SP>, said pivot 9 bearing a rotary casing 10 on which are hinged, around horizontal axes S-S<SP>1</SP>, T-T<SP>1</SP>, arms 11a, 11b in the same vertical plane and between which are arranged elastic means with horizontal action, e.g. a helicoidal spring 12, said arms 11 bearing at their free ends around horizontal pivot axes P-P<SP>1</SP>, R-R<SP>1</SP> parallel to axes S-S<SP>1</SP>, T-T<SP>1</SP>, the upper ends of vertical bars 13a, 13b, on the other ends of which are pivoted the ends of bow 6 around horizontal axes M-M<SP>1</SP>, N-N<SP>1</SP> which are extensions of one another and perpendicular to axes P-P<SP>1</SP>, R-R<SP>1</SP>, S-S<SP>1</SP>, T-T<SP>1</SP>, the upper and lower pivots of bars 13 enabling angular variations of the bars so that they describe conical movement over 360 degrees. The means supporting the pivot 9 comprises a cardan joint 8, and the axes P-P<SP>1</SP>, R-R<SP>1</SP>, M-M<SP>1</SP>, N-N<SP>1</SP> bear ball joints 25, 28, 29. Joints 8, 25, 28, 29 may be replaced by "Silent Bloc" devices (R.T.M.) The tension in spring 12 can be adjusted by screws 20. The counterweights 33, in the form of half-discs, are adjustably mounted on a rod 35, the rod 35 being mounted on one wing of an angle bracket 34, the other wing of which is fixed to arm 3, means 37 locking the road 35 in any position on the wing around an axis L-L<SP>1</SP> and the other wing in any position on the arm 3 about an axis perpendicular to said other wing. The axis X-X<SP>1</SP> is formed by a part 30 fixed on bow 6 and around which a rotary element can turn on which is fixed the arm 3 and which forms part of a casing 31, the part 30 being releasably locked to the part 31 by a locking means described with respect to Figures 4, 5 (not shown). The anchoring means may comprise a bow (58) Fig. 6 (not shown) housing the cardan joint and mounted on parallel rods (64, 65) provided on a jib (1a), Fig. 1 (not shown) or held against the ceiling by bowed rods (68), the bow (58) being adjustable and lockable along the rods, i.e. parallel to the optical axis of the camera when it is pointed in the direction of vehicle advance.
